In summer 2024, the National Laboratory for Social Innovation (TINLAB) was once again launching a call for social innovators. SIXAGON's collague, Melinda Gemza, a theatre education specialist, has been awarded a TINLAB grant for her project "Taboo-free Zone - a sex education drama workshop", which will allow her to test the project on a small scale.
The project was motivated by the fact that in our country, sex education is not part of teacher training, despite the fact that sexuality is a frequent topic among young people in everyday school life and constantly creates situations that teachers cannot ignore. The pilot project is a series of four interactive workshops for secondary school teachers, designed to equip participants with the tools they need to design and deliver such sessions for the students they teach. The sessions cover gender roles, love and sexuality, pornography, equal relationships, relationship violence, sexual violence and victim protection. In addition to the transfer of methodological knowledge, the programme provides an opportunity for the personal presence of teachers to shape attitudes, to engage in social dialogue between the teachers present and to bring different points of view together, thus strengthening teachers' commitment to the programme in schools.
In October 2024, a total of seven pilot development projects won TINLAB's call for proposals. The programme is led by the Network for Regional Development Foundation. The partners of the Taboo-free Zone project are SIXAGON Nonprofit Llc., InSite Drama Nonprofit Llc. and Csokonai National Theatre. The pilot development period will end on 31 January 2025.
